I signed up for Ta-Da List and thought I would use it, but I never seem to be at a computer when I think of things I need to do so I haven’t used it. The main problems with this technology are 1) having enough time to sit at a computer and 2) sifting through a lot of the junk at the sites. I wish I had more time to use these things, but I don’t. I do not like to be on the computer for very long. The staff wiki picks are a useful addition to the library.
It takes awhile to find podcasts and videos that are of interest because there is so much junk out there. Just looking at some of the random videos while searching for other things can be offensive and annoying. The podcasts seem to offer more of value. The CCC Library uses podcasting for children’s stories. I don’t think I would particularly want my child to go on the computer to listen to children’s stories–since it is too easy to switch into something else. I suppose vodcasts and podcasts of compelling speakers would be of interest–how much would these people be paid if their programs are recorded for use on the library website?
The Library 2.0 Network seems the most useful to the CCCL community.
This widget might be useful for staff working with the serials module at the same time as other staff are working on this so they may consult on the proper caraloging of an issue–so this stuff can stay off the e-mails.
I didn’t know about these documents and I think this can be useful when you want more than one person to be able to access a document or schedule for changes and updates.
I received Hercules Library Tuesday evening storytime event in my bloglines account. This exerciese helped me understand rss feeds since I have never used them before. The main problem was to remember to click on subscribe twice to activate the subscription to the feed. Another problem was that some of the feeds took a long time to appear or didn’t appear.
I added the buttons to my personal computer at home and I think this is something I will actually enjoy using when I can spend some time on the computer. However, I deleted bookmarks on my browser which were supposed to automatically be deleted in del.icio.us and this did not happen–i also had to delete them in del.icio.us.
I posted my first book review to the staff WIKI.
This is the first time I have created a blog and it is great to be able to take the time from regular duties to learn how to do this–with the help of Gina and Anastacia.
